What: A Valentines performance/disruption. Who: All lovers, performers, activists, anti-valentinites, people who like to push the envelope. Basically anyone. Where: Around the country/world, on the streets, where people meet, in a club or in a pub, in a bar or in a car, on a train, or in a plane. Wherever the hell you want to. When: Valentines night every year. Why: To affect peoples perceptions of love, romance, trust, communication, respect, jealousy, non-monogamy, and Valentines Day. Or just to have fun. |
The Story: Years ago I was coming home from a bar and as I walked
to my car I saw three different couples having ridiculous, screaming
arguments with each other on the streets. I considered what causes people
to lash out at one another like this in such a public display. Is it
our (societies) unattainable expectations of love and romance? Is it
people’s fear of being alone; therefore holding on to a relationship
that is no longer working? Can people live, long term, in a healthy
relationship? Can’t we all just get along? Wade |
